Kim Roney for Asheville Sign Making Party

  • The Grey Eagle 185 Clingman Avenue Asheville, NC, 28801 United States (map)

In a musician & artist household that walks, gardens, and participates daily in our community, we feel strongly that the campaign to Be 'Bout it Being Better should not purchase new, plastic signage to display in our neighborhoods.

If possible, we want to repurpose and recycle materials to make DIY yard signs for us and for our neighbors.

In order for us to pull off this labor-intensive project, we are organizing groups of carpenters, artists, and activists to streamline the process to make it not only doable but FUN!

Here's what we need:

- Wood and other materials that are at least 18x24 inches. Check your basement and storage for plywood, 1x1-inch posts, and perhaps old political signs that can be repurposed!
- Primer or outdoor paint in black or white, and spray paint in black, white, or gold. Any shad of lavender or sage is also welcome.
- Rollers, brushes, sponges, and drop clothes for DONATION. Feel free to bring your own materials for your use at your convenience.
- If you are an aerosol artist who would like to join the team, we are eager to include you and your style in this endeavor!

We will have:

- Some wood materials, paint & stencils.
- Stations with tools and stencils to decorate your sign as well as a few for others.
- T-shirts, stickers, buttons, and voter-registration forms!

Feel free to email for more info or with any questions: kimroneyforasheville@gmail.com.

Our lovely hosts at The Grey Eagle will be open for business if you'd like to order food & beverages from the Taqueria or use their facilities. Please consider stopping by before or after the Asheville Zine Fest to participate and celebrate.
